With baby coming, Jeff Gordon will have Aric Almirola, Scott Pruett as standby drivers

INDIANAPOLIS – Jeff Gordon, whose wife is expected to give birth to the couple’s second child in the next couple of weeks, will have Aric Almirola on standby next week at Pocono Raceway and then road-racing ace Scott Pruett on standby the following week at Watkins Glen.

Almirola was the standby driver for Gordon’s Hendrick Motorpsorts teammate Jimmie Johnson earlier this year but never had to get in the car during a race. Pruett, who drives for Chip Ganassi in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, was already going to be at The Glen for the Grand-Am event and Almirola will be in Nashville for a Truck Series race that weekend.

Gordon’s wife, Ingrid Vandebosch, is expected to have a baby boy.

I can imagine they'd each love to get the chance to take the 24 car.

IMO, that's all for the public's consumption. :tape:

Ingrid had a C section with Ella because the baby was breach and because of that, she will most likely have this second baby by C section too.

The same thing happened with my first grandbaby...she was breach also and they had to perform an emergency C section. The doctors told my daughter that from then foward, all her babies would have to be delivered by C section in order to avoid any tearing of the scarred incision on her womb during labor.

Jeff and Ingrid have prolly already set the date for the surgery, that's for them to know and us to wait it out. I cain't wait to see the lil man!!

Sounds like you're right about the C. A Monday sounds like the perfect time to give "birth". :thumb:

You should have at least used the spoiler function for people like me that still think the stork has something to do with it ;)

Apparently not in the racing world. :pound: The baby is assigned a date of birth....never, ever to coincide with race day. :faint:

OBTW, congrats go to you tc and as a fellow Californian, to your new position here at NFP.

Hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! :whistling:

Aloha

Aloha back at you.

And a very early Mele Kalikimaka to you. I remember a bit from over there many years ago. I was there before it was a State.

Thank you for the congrats.
